Participants of the first edition were welcomed by the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for External relations, Prof. Agnieszka Kurczewska. She expressed her joy at the fact that the study programme is the result of very close cooperation between the University of Lodz, several FinTech companies and the Invest in Lodz (Central Poland) team from the City of Lodz Office.

The success of the project is the best proof that there is a very strong and effective community of entrepreneurs in Lodz, which is based on partnership and trust.

– underlined Prof. Agnieszka Kurczewska.

Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology for Education and the President of the Curriculum Board, Prof. Mariusz Sokołowicz took the floor on behalf of the University of Lodz Faculty of Economics and Sociology

In addition to providing substantive content, the faculty will become a space for building relationships – like a café club, where open discussions and joint work will lead to the birth of new ideas and joint ventures

–  Prof. Mariusz Sokołowicz expressed his hopes.

On behalf of the Invest in Lodz (Central Poland) team, Director Adam Brzostowski emphasized that FinTech postgraduate studies as an initiative of the so-called FinTech Community in Lodz is the culmination of a number of other activities undertaken by the City of Lodz Office.

These activities are intended to ensure the education of an increasing number of specialists, both financial market and IT specialists, who want to strengthen their financial competences. Thanks to them, Lodz and the entire Central Poland, which until recently were not associated with the FinTech sector, have in a few years developed into an entrepreneurial environment recognized in the country – FinTech Community

– said Adam Brzostowski.

Prof. Dr hab. Monika Marcinkowska, Head of the Department of Banking and Head of FinTech studies, emphasized the innovativeness of the study programme. As part of the studies, the participants will work on specific business solutions in small groups from the beginning. The postgraduate studies will end with a presentation of these solutions in the form of the so-called pitching.

These studies are not only about passing exams, but the final work will be a real business idea. The ambition of the studies' originators is to create at least one new FinTech start-up in Lodz

– announced Prof. Monika Marcinkowska.

The FinTech postgraduate studies, which have just been launched at the University of Lodz, according to the assumptions of their creators, are intended to prepare for the creation of a company operating in the financial and technological industry and for the profession of president – CEO (or other managerial position, especially in a start-up), Product Owner, a business analyst, a specialist in the company operating in the field of financial technologies or a financial institution (bank, payment institution, loan company, insurance company, investment company).
